Music is a very important part of Lexington United Methodist Church’s spiritual expression. All are invited and encouraged to offer their talents in worship to praise God through music. If you want to offer your talents, please contact the church office at 803-359-6838 and make arrangements to visit with our Choir Director, Dr. Jerry Gatch, JGatch@lexumcsc.com, and with our Organist, Ken Robbins, KRobbins@lexumcsc.com.
Chancel Choir
The Chanel Choir’s membership is made up of persons with a wide variety of musical skills and experience. Auditions are not required, but anyone interested in joining the choir should contact choir director, Dr. Jerry Gatch.The Chancel Choir provides a wide variety of types of choral music for the regular Sunday services, as well as special music for services during Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. The Chancel Choir provides music at the 11:00 AM traditional service, and soloists or small groups of singers or instrumentalists provide the special music for the 8:30 AM traditional service.
The Chancel Choir rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary and Sundays at 10:30 AM in the choir room.
ANew Music
Many new songs and hymns are sung using guitars, keyboard, drums, and other instruments in the ANew service (11:00 AM in Wesley Hall).
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir is available for 6th – 12th grade young people. This group offers a threat-free and accepting environment for young people to learn choral singing and the opportunity to be a part of the Sunday worship service on special occasions. The Youth Choir rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6:00-6:30PM in the choir room.
Children’s Choir
The Children’s Choir is for children 4, 5 and 6 year olds. The children learn Christian music that is sung during the year for church worship services. For more information, contact Lessie Polk at lespolk@aol.com.
