Labyrinth Ministry

A labyrinth is a sacred path and space used for prayer, meditation, and contemplation. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has a single path to the center and back. It is walked in an attitude of prayer and meditation. Each year LUMC hosts a Labyrinth walk. To learn more about our Labyrinth Ministry, click the link.

Walk to Emmaus

The Walk to Emmaus experience begins with a 72-hour short course in Christianity, comprised of fifteen talks by lay and clergy on the themes of God’s grace, disciplines of Christian discipleship, and what it means to be the church. The three-day Emmaus course in Christianity moves church members to new levels of openness and commitment as Disciples of Christ. Participants gain fresh understanding of the meaning of their faith. People re-experience the gift of God’s love and emerge from the Emmaus weekend with a desire to pass that love on to others. The course is wrapped in prayer and meditation, special times of worship and daily celebration of Holy Communion.

The Midlands Emmaus Walk takes place in Batesburg-Leesville at the Nazarene Camp.

To get involved in Emmaus, each person must have a sponsor who has already attended Emmaus him-or herself. For information about how to attend these upcoming Walks or just some information about Emmaus, contact any of the 50+ LUMC members who have attended or visit  http://www.midlandsemmaus.com/.
